Set limits before opening the lobby
Choose a maximum deposit, loss and session time while calm. Treat the amount as an entertainment cost, never as capital that must produce a return. Do not borrow to gamble and do not use money reserved for housing, food, bills or family needs.
Warning signs
Pause when gambling becomes secretive, consumes more time or money than planned, causes missed obligations, or creates pressure to recover losses. Chasing is not a strategy; the next independent result does not owe a reversal.
Create distance immediately
Log out, remove saved payment methods, turn off promotional messages and use deposit, cooling-off or exclusion controls available in the account. Banking or device-level blocking tools can add friction when a decision made in the moment is difficult to maintain.
Independent help
Singapore readers can consult the National Council on Problem Gambling at ncpg.org.sg. International confidential support is also available through Gambling Therapy at gamblingtherapy.org. In an immediate mental-health or safety crisis, contact local emergency services.
For family and friends
Speak about specific behaviour and consequences rather than arguing about wins and losses. Do not lend money to continue gambling or take control of another person’s account. Independent support services can also advise affected family members.
